It's raining Beaches.....

I was on vacation in Australia last week, travelling from coast to coast. I’ve never seen so many gorgeous beaches in my entire life. Well, people will actually find it quite surprising considering I live on an island my whole life and it’s constantly promoted as a beach holiday destination.

I first arrived in Brisbane and headed straight to Surfer’s Paradise. Well, the place was breathtaking and very unique. It lives up to its name, a real paradise on earth. What’s ironic is that you see the stunning beach ahead with very crazy waves but when you turn behind, you’re suddenly surrounded by skyscrapers. The sand was so soft that your foot sinks about half and inch with every step. It’s also a new sight for me to see local ozzies surfing the waves. It’s the perfect vacation place to relax and unwind. You can just spend time walking along the beach with the sound of the waves and constant wind. It will take all your troubles away.

My friend and I then flew from Brisbane to Melbourne. We started driving along the south coast of Victoria which also known as the Great Ocean Road. It was a whole day’s drive from Melbourne city with lots of twist and turns and overlooking the never ending cost with stormy seas. Our first stop was Apollo Bay, a small but beautiful town with excellent food. The beach was just as remarkable as the one in Surfer’s Paradise but somehow the sand texture was different and the waves just slightly lower. I was equally astounded with the place. I’ve guess that’s because I’ve never seen so many beautiful beaches in the space of a few days.

Drive along Great Ocean Road

They say it’s not the destination that counts but the journey. But for the great ocean road, I would say otherwise. The whole day journey was a little bumpy at times due to the long windy road but its all worth it in the end when u reached the famed Twelve Apostles. Only that there were not twelve but rather eight jutting rocks in the ocean! Nevertheless, it’s still a sight to behold and sunset was glorious.

From Melbourne we travelled west to Perth. It’s said that Western Australia has the most beautiful sunset in the world due to its geographic location. Well, this will be my second sunset in a week. If I continue at this rate, I’ll be a PhD in sunsets. Hehe…… The place I went is a small suburb called Cottesloe but there is nothing “small” about it. The ocean is more greenish and warm and the waves are smaller compared to the gold coast. With Surfer’s Paradise, the beach is a blanket of pure white.

We spend the whole afternoon lying on the soft green grass, relaxing and falling asleep while the sunlight hits against us but at the same time having the luxury of the cool wind against our cheeks. That is what I would call living life to the fullest!

Australia is truly blessed with such beautiful beaches all around. I guess that’s the advantage when your whole country is an island or should I say a continent. It was a real adventure for me, three beaches in a week and probably many hundreds to go….. I can’t wait for my next down under holiday.
